Experience the rut: hear the call of love!
In the months of September and October, red deer on the Veluwe go in search of love. During this mating season - also known as the rut - the males let out their special call, the belling, and compete with each other to conquer the females. The best time to experience the belling is in the early morning or afternoon.
Liberationroute
At the veluwe you find a lot of listeningspots from the liberationroute. one of the best-know of this spots is "het verscholen dorp" in vierhouten. At the period of february 1943 till october 1944 there were 100 people who found here a safe hiding place.
